lyrics
I was thinking about the green grass and the sweet girl on the mountain
And the sun that shines on down through the clouds oh everyday
And all the stars are out midnight, all shining down upon us
Well the fire was a blazing, it was the month of May
It was back when you had loved me, oh and life was just a movie
Smooth as peanut butter, honey apple on your plate
Oh and time will keep on moving, oh and I will keep on moving
All while time keeps on moving, always moving away
Oh I am not myself
I am everyone else
Was it early in the morning, felt like later in the evening
Oh when everything means nothing, nothing’s feeling the same
Oh and I could feel the lighting as you crossed the room so gently
You could barely see the flicker as you were fading away
Oh I am not myself
I am everyone else
I will just keep living life, like life is like worth living
Cup of coffee in the morning, we’ll isn’t it the middle of the day
And there's Jupiter and Saturn shining bright down through my window
And the grass is always greener, so I’ll be running away
Oh I am not myself
I am everyone else
Oh I am not myself
I am everyone else
And I'll be thinking about you all, sitting down at the end of day

Jason Isbell is a master storyteller, and his music gives it so much more room to shine. Every song is so lovingly produced with amazing lyrics to make them stand out even more. RabidRabbit
Bright and skipping songs that foreground the sound of the banjo and fingerstyle guitar in music that feels timeless. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 5, 2020
This album speaks to the continuum of African diasporic culture that is central to the vibrant canon of Americana folk music. Bandcamp Album of the Day May 29, 2020
The best I've heard from Steve Earle in a while. The songs have a subtler, earthier tone, tastefully rendered in authentic sounding country/blues/bluegrass stylings. 'J.T' reminds of earlier records like 'Feel Alright' or 'Train a Comin'.
Deep grief, love and compassion is felt on the final track, the only composition from Steve, seemingly written for his son. The rest, composed by JT, do confirm what a great songwriter he really was. tideracer
