Dark window panes, everything looks the same
Deep as the oil stain in your pocket
Late in the morning sun, illuminates everyone
But I couldn’t see much of any at all
Much of any at all
Much of any at all
Much of any at all
Air stuck to you and me, old time philosophy
But I’m just a snake sneaking out it’s skin
Running cause I’m feeling late, there’s no need to hesitate
All the good livings at the end of the road
At the end of the road
At the end of the road
It’s the end of the road
Cool alabaster stone, never felt so alone
Sitting on the rock bruising my tailbone
See this is just an evening song, there’s no need to worry long
In time we'll be sleeping the night away
We’ll sleep the night away
We’ll sleep the night away
We’ll sleep the night away
Dark window panes, everything looks the same

Jason Isbell is a master storyteller, and his music gives it so much more room to shine. Every song is so lovingly produced with amazing lyrics to make them stand out even more. RabidRabbit
Bright and skipping songs that foreground the sound of the banjo and fingerstyle guitar in music that feels timeless. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 5, 2020

The best I've heard from Steve Earle in a while. The songs have a subtler, earthier tone, tastefully rendered in authentic sounding country/blues/bluegrass stylings. 'J.T' reminds of earlier records like 'Feel Alright' or 'Train a Comin'.
Deep grief, love and compassion is felt on the final track, the only composition from Steve, seemingly written for his son. The rest, composed by JT, do confirm what a great songwriter he really was. tideracer
