lyrics
Oh what a nice life we once had
Moon hit the sun the life we’re livings been a drag
Oh but just like a feeling there it hung
A fractured clip, a great abyss, blowing air back in your lungs
Heard you out there singing, can’t be sure
We’ll I heard the breathe you're breathing brought you back to where you were
Where that cool breeze a-blowing kept ya high
And I swear I saw the sunshine, a little shimmer in your eye
Not sure who I've been lately
Pretty sure your mother hates me
Oh what a fine time this could be
But there aint no time for fine times about as far as we can see
Head on the floor, a muffled sigh
Ain't it a shame shame shame, all those good times slipping by
Well was just a thought I’m thinking passing through
Knocked down the door, slept on the floor, it’ll sure be leaving soon
With that sweet summer air, it's all but gone
And it’s been feeling mighty lonesome now that winter’s coming on
Not sure who I've been lately
But holy shit can barely stand me
Well I knew that you were lying, oh so sweet
So I let that one slide through the cracks, down right in front of me

These recordings have a rough- hewn, almost demo-ish quality, but instead of detracting it adds to their charm. Like a concert in your living room, these wonderful songs are intimate and full of small surprises. Lilly Hiatt is a terrific artist, and the method/circumstances of the recording don't matter because her talent always shines. Don't sleep on this one. brooklynboy

Sierra Ferrell's music is the nectar that drips from vocal chords of angels on ecstacy and percocet, dripping with honey, and smelling of grandma's brownies. It has been proven to "cure what ails ya", and it temporarily wards off the existential dread that is slowly encompassing us all. Don't let the absurdity of our existence get you down. Listen to Sierra Ferrell instead.

Bright and skipping songs that foreground the sound of the banjo and fingerstyle guitar in music that feels timeless. Bandcamp New & Notable Oct 5, 2020

i love eilen jewell. just listened to the entire album, get behind the wheel, now going back and listening to and savoring individual tracks. her music has an indescribable beauty. it's real, honest, sweet, powerful, touching, universal. it's a special artist that can do all that and leave you coming back for more. tikibarjim
