These recordings have a rough- hewn, almost demo-ish quality, but instead of detracting it adds to their charm. Like a concert in your living room, these wonderful songs are intimate and full of small surprises. Lilly Hiatt is a terrific artist, and the method/circumstances of the recording don't matter because her talent always shines. Don't sleep on this one.
